My Challenge is to...

Get up at 5am and run!

for Nedd’s Uncomfortable Challenge

My challenge is uncomfortable for me because...

It's been one hell of a sh*t year that has forced me to abandon my passion for running. Struggling with the idea of running 3km all of a sudden, the thought of running +4km every day at 5am for 10 consecutive days makes me incredibly uncomfortable.

So, I'm stepping up to this challenge to not only grow personally but also to raise awareness and support for We Are Mobilise, helping people in Australia experiencing homelessness.

My Updates

Day 10 – Running Up That Hill, Made a Deal with Nedd

Wednesday 29th Oct
The final day of NUC for 2025 and we saved the best for last. Sick with a virus, today was very uncomfortable. Still go it done, even if there was some walking, to close out the challenge for 2025.

Stoked to have been part of the event this year, helping to raise funds for people experiencing homelessness! Now only two questions remain. First, how do I ramp it up next year? Second, do I continue the madness of getting up a 5am to run!?

Day 9 – He's Going The Distance

Tuesday 28th Oct
Chilly but awesome morning for a 5am run! The penultimate day of NUC 2025 and whilst I'm getting a little annoyed of the alarm each morning, I'm so grateful for the motivator.

One more official morning of the challenge, and only $201.28 left to raise (yes that's a weird number) - get donating people!

Day 8 – You Can't Stop Me Now

Monday 27th Oct
Chilly wind, a fox and plenty of puddles; prinny had it all this morning. But despite the conditions, day 8 was my fastest lap yet and for some reason, made me think of Queen's 'Don't Stop Me Now'.

"I'm gonna have myself a real good time
I feel alive
And the world, I'll turn it inside out, yeah
I'm floating around in ecstasy, so...

Don't stop me now"

Day 7 – Mild Moist Morning

Monday 27th Oct
A mildly moist morning in my MagMax, but every morning is a good morning to get out of bed at 5am and get uncomfortable – especially for such an important cause. #Leessgoooo!

Day 6 – Perfect Morning For a Run

Monday 27th Oct
Day 6 of the challenge and we're officially into the last half – and what a morning for a run! Clear skies, no wind and the perfect temperature. What a time to be alive!

Day 5 – Doin' It In Reverse

Friday 24th Oct
Feeling good and mixing it up this morning with a reverse lap of prinny (settle down you middle-aged beast). Getting it done and actually improving my pace while I'm at, so whilst I'm tired, I'm stoked with the effort.

#leessgooo!

Day 4 – Still Gettin' It Done

Thursday 23rd Oct
Feeling pumped this morning for some un-Godly reason. Maybe it's a sign that I need to increase my km's and get even more uncomfortable?

Let's f***ing go!

Day 3 – Gettin' It Done

Wednesday 22nd Oct
Nothing exciting to report today. I didn't run barefoot on a treadmill, didn't see the fox I saw yesterday, just woke up and got shit done!

Mad respect for those doing some crazy activities as part of this challenge, including 2 work mates doing a half marathon every morning before work – one of which who is breaking my PB every single morning! #Leessgoooo

Day 2 – Better With Shoes

Tuesday 21st Oct
Back on home turf and back in my PUMA MagMax this morning. Whilst arguably less fashionable, running is certainly better without jorts… and with shoes.

Day 1 – Where There’s a Will, There’s a Way

Monday 20th Oct
What do you do when you’re away interstate, you’ve forgotten your running gear, and about to start a 10 day running challenge?

Well you run on the hotel treadmill barefoot and in jean shorts, that’s what! This morning was uncomfortable in many ways – especially the looks from the other blokes in gym!

The night before; getting social!

Sunday 19th Oct
The night before the (un)comfortability commences - time to share the love across the socials to raise some awareness and get people donating! Leessgoooo!
