A bit about us! and why the challenge is uncomfortable for me
THE 265km PLEDGE
We’re Dante and Iggy — two brothers (with a bit of help from Dad!) taking on Nedd’s Uncomfortable Challenge to raise funds for We Are Mobilise, supporting Australians experiencing homelessness.
Last October, Nedd ran for 12 gruelling days at Olympic Park, chasing a world record of 1,600km. I was in awe of Nedd, and wanted to get on board - In 2024 I completed 100km of running over the challenge and felt amazing after. It inspired me to try new things and opened my eyes to cross training. I’m loving swimming currently!
This October, Nedd’s back — and so are we!
We’ve pledged a combined 265km over 10 days
Dante — 100km run + 20km swim
Aaron — 100km run + 20km swim
Iggy — 20km run + 5km swim
We’ve started early this year and well on our way to hitting our target!
Why is our pledge hard?
I found running 2 years ago. I was born with congenital heart disease and had my first open-heart surgery at 10 months old. Today I live with aortic stenosis and pulmonary stenosis which means my heart works a little harder. Technology has improved, those repairs will be by cath lab. I’m monitored very closely and have a great cardiologist and have had some great coaches that have helped support me build a steady strong base. Every beat is a reminder of how far I’ve come, and how lucky I am to still be chasing my goals. My little brother Iggy is new to running! He was hesitant at first to join the challenge, he doesn’t love sport like I do. He’s really putting himself out there.
We hope our effort inspires others to take on hard things and make a positive difference — however big or small — in their own communities.
