My Challenge is to...

Exercise everyday

for Nedd’s Uncomfortable Challenge

My challenge is uncomfortable for me because...

Exercising every day is uncomfortable for me because just seven months ago, at age 35, as a mum of two young girls, I was diagnosed with bowel cancer. Since then, I've undergone major surgery, received three additional diagnoses, and continue to live with the physical and emotional effects that cancer and its treatment have on my daily life.

There are days when my body feels tired, sore, or unpredictable. There are days when it would be easier to rest, make excuses, or let cancer define what I can and can't do. But I refuse to let that happen.

I'm currently training for a half marathon on 21 November 2026—exactly one year from the day I was diagnosed. Every run, every workout, and every step outside my comfort zone is about proving to myself, my daughters, and anyone facing their own challenges that hard things are possible.

I could have used this year as a reason to slow down. Instead, I've chosen to fight to become the strongest, fittest, and healthiest version of myself. Cancer changed my life, but it won't stop me.
