A LITTLE NUC APPRECIATION POST 💙👏
This year, I had 3 of my high school students decide they wanted to join me for NUC, each choosing their own challenge to push themselves mentally and physically.
They’re all at different stages of their challenges, but one thing they have in common is the strength, determination and growth they’ve shown already. In such a short time, they’ve proved that they’re capable of so much more than they realise. 🥹
A little insight into each of their journeys…
B 💙💛
From the very beginning, B was keen to get involved. His love of fitness inspired him to take on running every day, and after hearing about my previous challenges, he decided to add a 2-minute cold shower into the mix! Early mornings are never easy, especially for a teenager, but he has shown up every single day without fail. I can’t wait to see how he tackles the final 5 days of his challenge!
A 💗
My first student to sign up! A chose to embrace the uncomfortable by running every day and pushing herself beyond her limits. Even a pretty rough day one, which ended with a very bloody knee, wasn’t enough to stop her. Since then, she’s smashed PBs in both her 400m and 1-mile runs, which is just incredible! She’s also been checking in on me every day throughout my challenge, showing just how supportive and thoughtful she is. 🫶
L 📵🫶🏼
L took on a different kind of uncomfortable by handing her phone over to me at the start of every school day and limiting her use on weekends. The first day was tough, with plenty of pocket-checking and having to ask others for the time! Fast forward to day 8, and her update says it all:
“I’m less tired and I am getting so much work in class done. I didn’t realise how much I was checking my phone.”
The best part? L has come to me every single day to hand over her phone. I haven’t had to ask once! She’s also taken on 2-minute cold showers and accidentally stayed in for 3 minutes. 😂👏
I am SO proud of these three. Watching them challenge themselves, build new habits and discover what they’re capable of is exactly what this is all about.
I hope this is just the beginning of their journeys and that they continue to chase the uncomfortable, back themselves and realise just how capable they truly are.
