My Challenge is to...

Show up for myself

for Nedd’s Uncomfortable Challenge

My challenge is uncomfortable for me because...

For this year's Nedd's Uncomfortable Challenge, I chose "Showing Up for Myself." Not because it's easy, but because it's something I have struggled to do for a very long time.

One of the biggest challenges I face isn't physical—it's the way I see myself.

For years, I've carried the fear of always being "the fat one." The person who worries about photos, who wonders what people think when she walks into a room, who compares herself to others and feels like she comes up short. I've spent so much time hiding, criticising my reflection, and believing that my worth was tied to a number on a scale.

The truth is that body dysmorphia and negative self-image can be exhausting. They can make you feel like no matter what you achieve, no matter how hard you work, all anyone sees is your size. Whether that's true or not, it's a belief that can become incredibly powerful.

This challenge is about facing that fear head-on.

For 10 days, I am committing to showing up for myself. That means moving my body because it deserves care, not punishment. It means making healthier choices because I value myself, not because I hate myself. It means acknowledging my achievements, even when that little voice in my head tells me they're not enough.

Most importantly, it means learning that I am more than my weight.

I am a mother, a friend, a worker, a community member, and a person who keeps getting back up when life knocks her down. My value has never been determined by my size, and this challenge is helping me remember that.

By stepping outside my comfort zone, I'm not just raising money for a worthy cause—I'm challenging years of self-doubt and learning to take up space without apology.

This is my challenge. This is my uncomfortable. And this is me choosing to show up anyway.
